Hello,

As you all know that ADP has invited Mr. Ali Khan from Montreal for a
talk this coming Sunday, Feb 27th. Please read Ali's info and the work
he is doing on our website at http://developpakistan.org/Events.htm

We will be sending out an email invite to our mailing lists along with
other lists like PAGB and YAPP in Boston. We are also thinking of
printing out fliers and distributing them at the Friday prayers and
the Jamaat Khaana (Natasha, we'll need your help there)

I am attaching the email invite that will go out in a little while. I
need some volunteers to make this a worthwhile trip for both parties,
Ali and ADP. The talk venue is the same as our regular meeting room
MIT 4-231. The talk will start at 1pm and there will be a half hour
presentation by Ali after which there will be a 1 hour Q&A session. We
are thinking of having some light snacks at the talk - another reason
for people to show up !!

Here is the invite.

"According to the 1998 census, youth under the age of 29 constitute about
70% of the population of Pakistan. If this resource is put to proper use it
could bring about a social, economic, cultural and ideological revolution in
the country and play a significant role in poverty alleviation".

The Association for the Development of Pakistan invites you to have a dialogue
with a pioneer working in Pakistan to implement successful models of youth
empowerment.

Ali Raza Khan's Bio:
Mr. Khan, founder and Director of Pakistan National Youth Service, has a
lifelong devotion to empower every young person in Pakistan in order to make
significant contributions to their own lives as well as the revitalization

Guys,

I just want to mention that hosting last Sunday's talk by Mr. Ali Khan was a great idea. I thought the format was just right and the talk was well presented in a very casual manner followed by healthy discussion among the attendees.

I think we should highlight the main points from the talk in our next meeting especially for those who missed it. We need to have more talks like this one: it not only brings ADP in the spot light, but also provides a clearer picture about the social/economical realities and helps put things in prospective.

Bilal

Bilal, I absolutely agree with you. It was a great event that provided the audience with a deeper understanding of grass root issues faced by the actual people on the ground. It also attracted a good blend of crowd who were genuinely interested in developmental issues concerning Pakistan.
Ali shared his vision and passion for his work, which was very much appreciated by the gathering.

I also agree with your suggestion of arranging such talks on a regular basis to increase our own knowledge base along with providing an oppurtunity for the people to get involved in the development work through ADP. I have already started making a mental list of people we can contact for a talk. Lets generate this list and start contacting these people to organize future talks.

One name that pop in my mind is Adil Najam. Guys, do you have any more names whom we can invite for a talk ?
