Key Questions to be Discussed on Kickoff Call

b. How many students per computer? Is 40 necessary?
c. Are prices in line with cheapest available? What about used computers?
d. Will there be an internet connection?
e. Confirm critical need with site visit. What’s the current facility like?
f. Schedule calls with 2 teachers to confirm need
2. Sustainability
a. Who is responsible for monitoring the new labs?
b. Do the computers include all peripherals? Monitor, keyboard, etc?
c. Could we rent the lab out to other organizations in the area?
d. How will teachers be trained?
3. Measurability
a. How many students will benefit per year?
b. How can we measure and track impact on students?
4. Social Return
a. Is this the greatest need at the schools?
b. Are there any better uses of funding?
4. Other Considerations
a. Determine if any religious affiliation
b. NGO credibility and ability to execute. References check out? Ask NGO for more info about prior projects
c. Request audited financials for past 3 years
d. What's the timeline expectation? What's the implementation timeline requirements (i.e. time to setup lab, time to hire a teacher, etc.)
e. What are services charges (Rs 20,000) and Furniture for Nursery Classes (Rs. 150,000)?
f. Is there still a need? Proposal received in Jan, last contact with NGO on Feb 8., funding deadline stated as 04/01/11 _________________ -Jawad Hasan |

I have some additional questions related to 1) the School itself and 2) Computer Labs
Details needed for the 2 Schools:
- Number of Male students, Number of Female students
- Primary, secondary, or high school?
- Grades and students in each grade
- Number/%age of students who pass matriculation
- Any religious curriculum / missionary activities?
- What do students do once they graduate? Employed (skilled/unskilled) or higher education?
Computer Labs:
- What curriculum will be taught?
- Is computer science a mandatory subject for matriculation?
- What grades/classes will be taught in the computer lab?
- How many students / computer?
Also, as i mentioned we funded a computer lab. Following are some details including success metrics:
